Educator

Sampad is a recently retired Middle School Teacher, Stage Director, Actor in and around the South Bay area, Writer, and residential community member of Mt. Madonna Center.  Sampad and his wife, Kalpana, moved to Mt Madonna Center in 1980 and have been here since. One of the Center’s group of founders, Sampad had the good fortune to spent the majority of his adult life studying with and enjoying the company of Baba Hare Dass or more affectionately called Babaji. Babaji passed away in 2018. So much of what he has learned about life and its compelling journey he attributes to that time spent with Babaji. For over 4 decades, Sampad dedicated his life to the craft of teaching, working for over 40 years at Mt. Madonna School, a private school on the Center’s property, where he taught Middle School English and was the director of the school’s ambitious theatre arts department. The school produces 3 major productions a year, including the annual presentation of the Ramayana, that involves the whole school, preschool through 12th Grade. Although retired, Sampad still participates in Mt. Madonna Center events, presenting workshops for community members using approachable theater games and activities as a method to foster creativity, openness, trust and fun.
